Is Cosmetic Tattoo For you?
Our clients come to us for a variety of reasons, needs, and looks and the attraction of semi-permanent make-up usually appeals to them for the following reasons:
- No time to fuss with makeup every day owing to a fast-paced lifestyle.
- Coordination or fine motor impairments which make putting on makeup difficult (i.e after a stroke or managing Parkinson’s etc).
- You find the constant need to reapply makeup throughout your day a hassle.
- You live an active lifestyle and end up with panda eyes and smears and smudges every day.
- You have allergies and problems with conventional makeup.
- You just like the idea of looking good and feeling great, every day.
Before your Treatment
- We ask that you complete your consent form with 100% accuracy and truth and submit it to us prior to your treatment. (Some medications can affect the outcome of your treatment. Please read the consent for more information).
- Preparation for your treatment is important to ensure the most pleasant experience and best results.
- Please avoid chemical peels, Botox, fillers, microdermabrasion, and any facial treatments for a MINIMUM of 2 WEEKS prior to your treatment.
- DO NOT have caffeine on the day of your treatment.
- You will be required to keep your brows dry for at least one week after your treatment, so we ask that you attend your appointment without makeup and with your hair washed.
- 48 hours prior to your appointment:
- Avoid alcohol.
- STOP using blood thinning medication (inc ibuprofen and aspirin).
On the Day of Treatment
- Ask us any questions or concerns you have before we commence so that we can be sure you are feeling as comfortable and excited as you can be.
- DO NOT have caffeine, alcohol, aspirin or drugs on the day of your tattoo. And please discuss any medications or supplements taken with your therapist at the time of booking your treatment.
- At your appointment we will undertake the pre procedure, which involves measurement, design and colour choice. We will also take photos of your brows, lips or eyes and start mapping out the process to meet your specific wishes.
- For brows, we may also conduct some waxing or tweezing around the mapped area to tidy up the space in preparation for your treatment. We do not remove the whole eyebrow.
- Where filling is being achieved, topical anaesthetic will be applied to help reduce the discomfort of the tattooing process.
Aftercare
Aftercare following on from your procedure is vital in supporting your end result and healing time.
- Immediately following your procedure, there will be some expected redness and, in some cases, swelling, which should both ease within the first few hours.
- DO call us if you have any questions or concerns.
- It is important to keep your tattoo dry for the first 2 hours following your procedure. To remove any weeping from the treatment area we recommend you use sterile cotton swabs.
- Apply the aftercare cream, provided as frequently as needed. (See aftercare information)
- DO NOT wet your tattoo for the first 7 – 14 days, or as recommended by your consultant. Should you not adhere to this advice, your tattoo maybe compromised. Drinking out of a straw will assist with keeping the lip area dry.
- As your tattoo begins to heal it may flake or scab. DO NOT pick at the scab as this will encourage pigment loss. Let them heal naturally and gently.
- DO NOT use any makeup, skin products or exfoliants for 2 weeks after your procedure.
- Avoid pools, spas, saunas, the beach, direct sunlight, and excessive sweating during your healing time.
